Ian joined Southdale as a trainee technician after leaving school, at a time when the company was small with only a handful of employees.

Ian’s first role as a trainee was partly quantity surveying and part buying. He was supported by Southdale to achieve a BTEC National Certificate in Building Studies and then progressed on to the BTEC Higher National Certificate in Building Studies.

As the company continued to expand and grow, Ian became a dedicated assistant estimator in our Estimating Department where he found his niche and true vocation.  Ian was rewarded for all his hard work with a promotion to Estimator in January 2002 and then to Estimating Manager in 2009.   He went on to develop other non construction related skills in management by achieving a Level 4 Award accredited by Institute of Leadership & Management.
