A new £3 million state-of-the-art medical centre has been officially opened in Ripponden this week, to dramatically improve health services available to the local community and surrounding areas.
The stunning new facility on Halifax Road in Ripponden was built by Halifax-based construction company, Southdale Ltd. in partnership with Leeds-based developer, Apollo Medical and will greatly improve the quality of medical care available in the town.
The new centre, which will be home to the Brig Royd surgery including six local GPs, replaces the existing practice and is anticipated to serve a greater number of patients from the surrounding area.
The building has nine consulting and training rooms, four nurse consulting rooms and two treatment rooms, one of which is designed for minor operations. Integrated within the waiting area is a pharmacy, whilst on the first floor there is 'hot desk' area to accommodate health visitors and district nurses when they are in the area.
The centre also contains many eco-friendlydesign features including an air source heat pump which works within the under-floor heating to help save energy and reduce the building’s carbon footprint. In addition, there is an automated building control system to control the heating and lighting and ensure that energy consumption is minimised.
